After all that we decided to go to a wonderful, hidden away little Chinese place recommended for their fantastic and tasty dumplings filled with soup and pork... Shoa-long Bao - they even have special instructions for the correct way of enjoying and eating them.....!
Above photograph - the cooks hard at work making hundreds of wonderful dumplings for lunchtime diners.
They were really delicious.... Luckily I am going back there again next Friday - I have made a plan to meet my friend Shelly for lunch there - she is a dumpling 'officiando' and I am sure she will LOVE them as much as we did.
I dont mind this type of graffiti...its artistic and imaginative. Love the cockatoo...gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoyed your dumplings lovely :) x
I can't believe that this is graffiti! It is quite amazing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tips on where to get yummy dim-sum too Sarah. my parents are in Melbourne right now so I will send them a text about this place.
I have just done a quick catch up of your older posts-I have been rather busy here! So glad to hear that your time in Sydney was wonderful-great pictures!
Hope the rest of your week is great. Take care and best wishes,
Natasha.
Thank you so much for your kind comments, Anna and Natasha..
ReplyDeleteNatasha - tell your parents that this is one of the places that was recommended recently as a 'Top Ten Favourite in Melbourne' by Claire the lawyer who got down to the final 4 (I think) in Australian Masterchef series. I am sure they will LOVE it. x
OOOH forgot to say, the place is called HUTONG in Market Lane, Melbourne.
ReplyDeleteI like graffiti if it's artistic and shows creativity which these do, it's just mindless writing that annoys me, which is sadly very common in France usually on beautiful buildings, must cost the council a fortune to get rid of it. Those dumplings look gorgeous!

I am OBSESSED with those dumplings...tragically we have some only OK versions in New York. But better than nothing, obviously. You're so lucky to have good ones!
ReplyDeleteYES thankyou!! I'm going to Melbourne in a couple of weekends, I've added dumplings to my list of things to do. Up there with taking arty shots of the lanes ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea Sarah and I can see your daughter has a great eye. She has captured some fantastic scenes here. I am going to pass this one on to my daughter..she will love it too!
ReplyDeleteJeanne :)

Looks like Din Tai Fung xiao long bao:). They have a place in Shanghai. I haven't found anything here quite as good. Yum.
ReplyDeleteIt might not be quite my style of art, but I applaud anyone who makes the effort to brighten up drab spaces in such a creative, colourful way.
ReplyDeleteAmazing works of art- such a good idea for P to put them up on her uni wall! I think they'd suit our household too?! V funky. I must get down there and take some piccies XX
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, Semi Expat.
