Joining in with Jane (and showing you the table)

I am joining in with Jane, dear Flower Jane from the lovely blog that is Small but Charming today as we are showing our flowers in the house. And from me, some flowers/produce from the garden too.... Ok... tah-dah... this is the main photograph for you - my little recycled mini milk bottles with their arrangements artfully stuffed into each bottle for you....

Here above another view and showing off the table in all its rustic glory. Remember our friend Chris made this table - I am still impressed. We picked out the old floor boards together for the table from a Salvage yard remember... ? If not, click HERE... What I love about it is the fact there are still old paint splodges on the boards from their former life.

This is how we decided to finish off the table... To go modern with deliciously chunky painted legs. And they will (when I get round to it, promise, Mr SE) be slightly distressed with the aid of wire wool and wax later on. We have also married the table with modern chairs as you can see - I love the whole mixture thing. (Sorry about the TV being on as a back drop to the photograph)

Now back to the flowery theme of the post..

This is outside and these flowers tumble over from next door. I just know you are going to tell me they are weeds. Never mind. I like them!!

And look we have grown something this year - chillies. Our tomatoes were a dead loss though. And the cat (Button) had to get in the photo so I took a second photograph....

Early morning in Paris (3rd arrondissement)

Look what Mr SE has sent me... a photograph....!!

Saturday morning early in Paris... Yes, lucky Mr SE is there again. Well, maybe not quite so lucky as it sounds. He has spent the whole week in an industrial area near Lyon in France and worked very hard and also has an illness (man flu = a cold!!)... Ahhemmm.... However today (before he leaves to fly back to Australia this evening) he has the WHOLE DAY en Paris. Le sigh.... Le double sigh....

I have said that I DO NOT NEED (different from want, of course) anything from Paris this year, dear Mr. SE...

However, he did send me these yesterday to my work as he had been away all week.... to wish me a happy weekend... They are beautiful and smell so lovely too.

And I hope your weekend, wherever you are and whatever you may be doing, is going really well...

Tropical colours; Friday flowers

Back to work today after our little 2 day trip to the countryside just about an hour or so from Melbourne. We had a wonderful time and thank you for all your kind birthday wishes.....

At work today I recieved the bouquet above. Hand delivered too! And they were from the company I work for THE ARK ...... How lovely, and how nice to be remembered. Told you they are a lovely company to work for!

Weekend flowers

Just look at the beautiful blue of this lovely convolvulus flower. It really is this gorgeous shade and whilst I know that many regard it as a weed I think it has to be forgiven any weedy connection simply because of its beauty. Here it is growing amongst the bank of hedging in the driveway leading to our house.

And whilst my weekend begins on Sunday (I have Sunday and Monday off this week) I just wanted to wish everyone a lovely couple of days, wherever you are and whatever you may be doing.

Weekend Flowers - a firm favourite

This photograph was sent to me by my sister (the one that got married a couple of months ago - click HERE if you like for the post all about her happy Wedding day).

She is delighted as the poppy plant in her garden is flowering profusely this year and she knows that they are one of my favourite flowers. Well, with a daughter named Poppy I couldn't really have any other favourite flower!....

Weekend flowers. At home and away.

Mr SE returned home last night bearing gifts... Well, a gift of many flowers. He said it was because I have been a good nurse looking after him after his operation on his elbow. So sweet of him as truth is (as my family knows) I am really not a great nurse and am woefully inadequate in that department and go all hollow-legged and lightheaded at anything which comes remotely under the heading of wounds and stitches needing treatment!

Such lovely flowers - I felt very lucky. They are from our local florist at the end of the road - now under new management apparently.

Flowers from my favourite place

I have been a very lucky Semi Expat and yesterday received a beautiful bouquet from my favourite flower delivery place in England. The Real Flower Company. For more information about them click HERE.

This one is called the 'Antique posy...' The roses are a mixture of dusky mauvey-pink ones called 'Julia Baby' and other creamy ones along with scented herbs, lavender sprigs and foliage.

Mid week roses from the garden

Did not get around to a post yesterday- many apologies ...... We were preparing a farewell barbeque for BN before she goes off for a look around New Zealand - she will be back in Melbourne with us later....

We all had a fabulous evening and I picked this large bunch of coral roses from the garden - thought you might like to see them - the colour will warm up those in the Northern Hemisphere - especially those in UK where there was another snow fall last night I believe... Brrrrr!!...

Friday Flowers

Well, to be techincally correct it is acutally a tree but the flowers of the Jacaranda tree are so beautiful with their amazing blue lilac colour and apparently it has been a very good year for them this Summer... well if this one is anything to go by I totally agree... Took this photograph a week or so ago I thought it looked gorgeous.....

Summer Blues - Friday Flowers

These beautiful blue Agapanthus flowers never cease to amaze me here in Australia - they almost seem to grow 'wild' in most streets along the grassy verges or in front of houses..... Coming from UK where we 'coaxed' and 'cajoled' them in anyway possible to bloom in our Summer gardens they seem a miracle in their abundance. Today these caught my eye looking fresh and co-ordinating so well with the blue of the picket fence behind them.

Just had to get in closer for a better shot!

Flowers for the weekend - selected, brought home and arranged!

Well, what a beautiful selection of Peonys (or is it Peonies, yes, think it is

the latter) awaited me this morning at the local market in Camberwell, Melbourne... - such lovely pink colours - pale and darker almost fuchsia too.... But in the end, I went for my favourite of all time - WHITE.....

Carried home (right hand photo) by Mr SE ... (me "do you want to be on the blog?", him "do I look fat in the photo???" - me "no, but you look like you are wearing a type of tunic dress though!" him "oh, ok then, if you must!")

And, look - how awful; I notice now he is carrying ALL the shopping too as well as the flowers.. ! (My excuse - I still have jet lag. Badly.) And, of course I had the camera...

However, not too much jet lag to arrange them ! Enjoy, and whatever you are doing this weekend too!!

FRIDAY FLOWERS (from my love)

I have been sent some totally beautiful flowers from Mr SE and they were such a lovely surprise - I feel a very lucky person.....

As well as looking so gorgeous they smell wonderful too - the roses are heavily scented and there are herbs intertwined through the bouquet - divine! If there are any men reading this (which I doubt somehow!) you will be very much in the 'wonderful man' league and earn 'brownie points' by the fistful if you use this company to send one of their fantastic bouquets.... - the company is http://www.realflowers.co.uk/ the only problem being that they only send within the UK !!

Drop heavy hints to your man or, do like I did one day when I first discovered the company, (and I know this may sound daft) and send one to yourself for the sheer indulgence and pleasure!

You won't regret it !!

Where did the weekend go?

So sorry, many apologies - did NOT get round to posting what I wore Friday due to the fact that by the time I thought about taking photographs (or rather Mr SE did, Friday evening) it was altogether rather late and I looked and felt rather dishevelled to say the least!! Then the weekend just flew by with us taking MIL on another whistlestop tour of Melbourne and its environs....

This time we went down the coast towards Brighton and Sandringham (funny that these names are the same as UK names but I suppose first settlers to dear Australia could not think of many original names for the new country!) Top left photograph - how I would love one of these beach huts (or, think in Oz they are called Beach Boxes?)

And then on Sunday afternoon we hit the high life and took MIL to the Casino in the city of Melbourne - a very opulent over-the-top marble and glittering place - we lost 15 dollars on the 50 cents a go 'one arm bandit' machines but it was all good fun (and besides I got to leave Mr SE and MIL in there whilst I wandered around the complex for 30 mins or so to 'look' in Prada and Louis Vuitton - even better fun!)

Finally, flowers to begin the week (as I did not get around to posting for the weekend!) - enjoy! Photo taken last Friday in the shop - today I have the day off - the sun is shining and so I will take MIL to the Botanic Gardens..... Will post again later if time allows.

This is the name of a scheme promoted by Connex, the company who run the trains in Melbourne and in many of the carriages there are poems and pictures created by local people..... One particularly caught my eye this morning on the way to work and so I quickly jotted it down in my note book for you all....

Rapunzel Goes Exploring

And I'm not her.

where those kind of looks

are all you need.

I've always preferred

my words to be heard.

A different end:

I really thought it was good and also made me smile - it was written, it said underneath by a Rosanne Berstein who is a Journalist/Editor.
