It's not that I don't like Autumn which is well and truly upon us here in Australia (in fact I might go so far as to say that it is my favourite season) it's just that I want what you've got! You lot in the Northern Hemisphere. Or perhaps it's a case of the grass seems always greener. I have loved seeing Spring photographs on others blogs and imagining a Summer in England. Maybe I'm homesick or feeling sad at the thought of not being around during the long holiday break from University that my daughter has just begun.
So in the hope of "snapping out of" this melancholy - here are a couple of Autumn photographs I have taken over the last week.... Above - our skinny latte and skinny flat white coffees we had last weekend at the market in South Melbourne. Excellent coffee place called Padre. And I love the pottery earthenware - that struck me as very Autumnal. And below, also snapped at the same market :
Fresh walnuts in huge sacks. They looked really beautiful - what could be more "seasons of mists and mellow fruitfulness" I wonder ? Maybe this below - a photograph taken a while back when I was in UK - my English Apple cake :

Enjoy your Season which ever one you are experiencing!

I think I need one of those coffees and a piece of that cake this afternoon!
ReplyDeleteTake good care.
I definitely need some of that cake! It looks fantastic!!
ReplyDeleteI am relishing the colder weather right now. I love braises and stews and mashed potato and apple crumble. My electric blanket seems to be staving off the worst of the cold for the moment (not that it's really cold right now). I'm liking wearing warmer clothes after 3 weeks in summer gear. For the moment I am ok!
I get it, I'm in the UK and have had permanent season envy since arriving. Although with Sydney's wild storms lately, I'm quite happy to be enjoying Spring.
ReplyDeleteExcept it's not very Springy.
Oh but it has rained for months here so the grass isn't actually green - it's yellow!
ReplyDeleteI most certainly agree with A Farmer's Wife...coffee and divine cake STAT please!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope your blues pass soon. Give us a smile!
ReplyDeleteIt's been so hot here, it's an effort to go outside.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your autumn. If this morning hadn't dawned so breezy and beautiful, I'd be on a plane to join you. You and your cake:)

I do think that one of the major Internet impacts has been home weather dissatisfaction. Before, we had what we had. Now, at least for me, my Internet friends tell me in detail about their weather and I pine a little more...
ReplyDeleteYes, you're probably just a little homesick - would some autumn baking, cool walks and comfort food help?
ReplyDeleteI'm very lucky, am popping over to England next week - which probably means it's about to start snowing there ;)
yes but who doesn't love a walnut and those fresh ones looked so fabulous....we don't have those, although we do have some delicious sunshine in London today!!
ReplyDeleteI sympathize with your season envy. But I can´t empathize with you, as I have never experienced the huge time zone change.
ReplyDeleteHold on : )!
if it's any consolation we have had 3 seasons in 2 days here - so far!
ReplyDeleteWinter has just hit hard here and that latte with a piece of that incredible looking cake would go down well thank you!!!!!xx
ReplyDeleteOooh, that apple cake looks lovely! I shall have to try it next autumn!
ReplyDeleteCxx
