Borrowed from the boys

Have always loved this casual 'boy' style. Comfortable and chic.

So, when information from the website YOUNG BRITISH DESIGNERS popped up into my email I sat up and took notice. And the designer is question is 'Studio Nicholson' . See what you think....

Gorgeous pieces don't you think? Perfect 'boy tailoring for girls'. Reminds me of Margaret Howell's great designs.

Information regarding the clothing from the YBD website says:

Studio Nicholson's collection is once again a carefully considered range of shirts, blouses, jackets, trousers and old school jumpers in luxe cashmere. The palette is subtle and feels honest and natural with navy, feminine khakis, softest greys, a bolt of chambray blue, warm creams and textured blacks.

So, I suppose it goes without saying that it's only fair that the boys are allowed to 'borrow' from the girls too in a way which brings me neatly onto Mr SE's new shirt which I er, forced no, persuaded (!) him to buy.......

The 'girlie' part is the floral fabric but I LOVE how he looked in it and I have always wanted him to have a Paul Smith shirt.

Absolutely 'his' colours....

And look at the different fabric lining the cuffs. Gorgeous.

Close up of the pattern. Think I am more excited by it than he is. Best bit of all (and this was after I had picked it up and thought he just 'had' to have it!) - it was less than half price.

So, would you wear boy tailoring? And what do you think of a man in florals? !

  1. Paul Smith has some lovely prints and I agree, the androgynous boy look can look gorgeous, especially with beautifully made tailored pieces. Joseph also make stunning blazers and trousers, which are always made of quality fabrics.

  2. Perhaps not the boy look for me but very definitely the man look...many of my shirts come from the menswear dept. and Tops favourite shirts were his pink ones!!!! xx

  5. I absolutely love the floral shirt. My policy was always to accept marriage proposals from men wearing such shirts.

  6. The boy clothes look fine on the model, but then again anything would look ok on her. i, myself need more structure..
I think you succeeded well with the shirt for your hb.
And if he will wear it, what a triumph : )!

  7. Clothing inspired by menswear, if chosen carefully to fit one's body shape can become a wardrobe staple. As for the opposite, I absolutely agree that menswear today is way too boring and unimaginative, I miss the good old days of dandies in pinstripes and boutonnieres, or maybe the British countryside fashion with tweed and argyle socks and knitted ties :-D
Your husband's floral shirt is gorgeous!

  8. I love "tomboy" style but it seriously looks best on gamine shapes. So I just look with a whole bunch of envy!

  10. I'm a big fan of Tomboy Style & Studio Nicholson. And funnily - I've been thinking of stealing one of Mr TNMA's Paul Smith shirts recently (it's pale blue & polka dot).

  14. The Pharmacist is dressed almost exclusively in Paul Smith these days, and though his initial reaction to the floral shirt was one of abject horror, he's since seen the light and now collects them with a passion.

I will have to get him to do a little modelling session for the blog. You should have Mr SE do the same!

  16. There are so many ways to use brick, block, slabs, rocks, gravel
and other stone formations. As adults riding motorcycles, we usually don't even think about steering. This is still faster than dropping your entire inventory.

  19. Overall the times was a very exciting newspaper and one which
is very insightful into its readers needs. As a matter
of fact, there are some news stories that have made such
a strong impact on the society that some of them have even won accolades.
Hindi Samachar is entertaining millions of people with incredible reports, events, information
and gossips. Newspaper companies should be seeking to have subscribers to their service where
breaking news can be emailed and send to blackberries and cell-phones.
Even though they are made of metal, they are smaller in size, able to fit on
    counters or end displays.
