11.11.11. Such a special day

All the elevens - a really special date - Armistice Day too. Fondly known the world over as Poppy Day. A day to pause and give thanks that so many have given their lives over the years and continue to do so to this day so that we may live freely.

And for me, my own extra special Poppy day. My darling daughter Poppy came into the world 21 years ago today. So extra poignant and extremely precious after years of infertility and I look back on that day as one of the happiest of my life. To all the new mothers particularly out there in the blogging fraternity, I know it is a cliche, but time will go by so fast - treasure every single second! I cannot believe that I have a 21 year old..... Amazing.

And here she is above... skipping along next to the river in Durham, where she is at University.

Happy, happy 21st Birthday sweetheart and I am so looking forward to seeing you later today.

  5. Happy Birthday to Poppy. What a lovely name.

Our English neighbours used to call their young children "poppets." I find that quite charming.

  8. Oh - this post brought a tear to my eye! It's so true. I look at my own baby, barely 4 weeks old, and marvel at how much she has grown in that short time. I am cherishing each day.

    Congratulations on your birthday Poppy!

  9. A warm birthday greeting to your daughter and for you too!
At one time adulthood first officially started at the age 21, at least in my part of the world.

  10. Hello my dear friend!

Your posts have been amazing while you have been away. Since I have been tardy with posts and comments, a few quick things…

Firstly, missing you!!! Secondly, totally jealous of Paris trip – you and Mr SE look right out of French Vogue! Thirdly, shame that cafĂ© could not have couriered me that chocolate croissant and coffee that you texted me about. My still mouth waters!!!

I hope Miss P had the best 21st party ever – she would have been wrapped for you to have been there. I want photos! My love to her and your family!!!

Can’t wait to have you back soon!!!

    xxx

BTW, what little treat was in the Chanel bag :-) Details please.
