Surprising Spectacles

I am really rather pleased with this purchase. I found them yesterday in our local little pharmacy for the princely sum of $24.99 which in UK pounds is 15.50 and US $22.00. They are of a very good construction and I love their slightly retro 'school- teacherish' shape.

I was not looking for a new pair of glasses but when you see a pair like this... sort of giving off a 'Paul Smith' tortoiseshell vibe and maybe a bit Diane Keaton in 'Something's Gotta Give' you DO NOT pass them by...

You try them on and then SNAP them up! I love reading glasses (+1.5) - my saviours - especially for computer work (work??? you mean blogging I hear Mr SE say).... and an absolute must for reading nowadays sadly but when you come across these kind of beauties it's not really any hardship.
A great weekend to one and all whatever you may be doing and wherever you are.....

  3. Hello there - I'm a new reader, came over from A Femme (Tish) I think. I love your style - and agree also about Diane Keaton in that movie, especially the bits where she is with Keanu!! Anyhoo, I read back through your archives and noticed your lovely watch with the double strap - would you mind telling us if that is what I think it is (Hermès) or something a little more affordable? Thank you! Patricia (British/Canadian, currently living in Budapest)

  4. Julienne - thank you.....

James - yes, I thought they were quite classic - thank you too.

BMadame - can watch that movie over and over - so glad you agree that they are a bit Diane !!

Patricia - hello, - welcome to the blog and thank you so much for taking the time to comment and your kind words too... My watch is Hermes - you are right - the Cape Cod 'double tour' one .... I had wanted one for years and Mr SE gave it to me for my 50th birthday so it is very spcial to me. X

  8. Thank you for your reply! The watch is simply lovely - I especially like the neutral colour of the strap. I will be celebrating my 50th this year - don't think that Hermès is in the budget, but we ARE going to Paris the week of my birthday, albeit with 2 teenage boys. Anyway, I am really enjoying your blog, keep up the good work!

  9. Sarah, I love your spectacles! It is so nice to see they finally have something beyond the usual rectangular shape. I imagine you look wonderful in them. Every girl needs on special pair and at least a dozen tucked in all those places where you need them. You notice I say dozen because I am always losing mine. Hold on tight to them..they are keepers!
    Jeanne:)
Hope you had a fab weekend...

  10. Patricia - how lovely that you are going to Paris for your 50th - lucky you! I really think you should look into a Hermes watch if that is what your heart is set on - you know it will be TONNES (well a good deal!) cheaper in Paris and then you will get the tax back when you leave the country too.!!

Jeanne - thank you my dear... I have quite a collection too upstairs and downstairs and also in handbags etc. - hope I don't lose these! And watched Something's Gotta Give again last night in celebration of my new specs!!
